Job Description:
As an Applied Science Manager (Forecasting) at Zalando SE, you will lead the Applied Science Forecasting team. Your role will involve developing cutting-edge forecasting solutions to support Zalando’s $10Bn+ business. You will coach junior colleagues and manage the team to stay up-to-date with the latest research in forecasting science. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background, experience in demand forecasting, and proficiency with Python and machine learning frameworks. You will be collaborating with other teams and senior leaders to apply state-of-the-art forecasting solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Applied Science Forecasting team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative forecasting solutions.
Stay updated on the latest research in forecasting and drive scientific publications.
Scale, manage, and mentor scientists, providing guidance on their projects.
Integrate complex project roadmaps and ensure delivery of business value.

Requirements:

PhD or equivalent academic background in a STEM field.
Strong experience in demand forecasting science.
Proficiency with Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, TensorFlow).
Ability to translate scientific research into practical applications.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
Fluent in business English.
